You know that Dos Equis ad with the older regal dude smiling into the camera surrounded by a litany of hot babes? If I didn’t know any better I’d say that commercial was crafted solely in the image of none other than cyber tech pioneer John McAfee. At 72, John McAfee literally is “the most interesting man in the world.”I can still ride at 72. I have done over 11,000 miles of open ocean jet skiing in my life. pic.twitter.com/K5CtpFZccA — John McAfee (@officialmcafee) June 2, 2018
Whether he’s dodging the SEC in his heavily fortified bunker complex or escaping the clutches of the Belizean government, McAfee’s life has done anything but slow down as he has aged. Infamous for his antivirus software that even he doesn’t know how to uninstall, McAfee has run for President as a Libertarian, shilled unregulated cryptocurrency with the best of them & lived the life that he wanted to without question.
To his legion of fans, McAfee has been lionized for his open realization of the manifest destiny ethos that lies at the foundational heart of all American genetics. He does what he wants when he wants and he rarely apologizes for it. While most 72-year-olds look out across the digital playground in awe and confusion, McAfee is still innovating the future of tech and culture.
Just yesterday he made headlines in the cryptocurrency community for releasing details on his newest venture: a blockchain cryptocurrency featuring his and other crypto celebrities images on beautifully printed paper. Originally labeled a hoax, McAfee was quick to clarify that he fully intends to offer McAfee Redemption Unit (MRU) beginning in late June. ECoinmerce, the world’s first decentralized E-Commerce marketplace, will support the MRU currency for all products. No hoax. The "McAfee Redemption Unit" is real and coming in 26 days. The graphic is low res – don't want to give much away yet. Printed on currency paper, holographs on both sides, serialized, linked to the blockchain, redeemable, convertible, collectiblehttps://t.co/ySUwkDuW7s pic.twitter.com/75xTje39X8 — John McAfee (@officialmcafee) May 29, 2018
While some have criticized his participation in the crypto space as little more than promotion for hire, McAfee has often given back to his followers. This week he released details for a meme contest that will award the best McAfee meme creator one Bitcoin (valued at nearly $8,000). The competition is heated with many traders dropping their Binance app in favor of Photoshop for the weekend. From @KTo232 pic.twitter.com/hPEOD0bP2m — John McAfee (@officialmcafee) June 3, 2018
Lost in the madness surrounding his latest crypto ventures was probably his biggest announcement of 2018 – McAfee plans to run for President in 2020! If the Libertarian Party is smart they’ll champion him the favorite and throw all their dirty FIAT into his coffers immediately. The way to victory in the modern age is through lifestyle. Guns are a lifestyle choice, marijuana is a lifestyle choice and with the massive amount of money pouring into alternative currency, crypto had become the newest lifestyle peg to crown atop a political platform. In spite of past refusals, I have decided to again run for POTUS in 2020. If asked again by the Libertarian party, I will run with them. If not, I will create my own party. I believe this will best serve the crypto community by providing the ultimate campaign platform for us. — John McAfee (@officialmcafee) June 3, 2018
Like him or hate him, John McAfee is the baddest 72-year-old on the planet Earth.
