Noob question about practical use:

I have zero to none experience about blockchain technology. But this much I understand about sia and skynet; decentralized storage, aka you own your own data and a third party can't sell it, which again means I'm not the product anymore. I'm all for it! Can anyone give me some other examples of practical use? Please explain like I'm 6 years old😅 Can I make an App and launch it in skynet? And people can use it paying with Siacoins?
