I just received an email from ["[email protected]
)" with what looks to be a pretty well thought out phishing attempt to have REN users send away their tokens. I will paste a portion of the body of the email below, but if any admins would like me to FWD the full email to them so they can investigate further, please let me know. I hope this helps the community avoid making a terrible mistake, and hopefully admins or someone involved with REN can look further into this and shut it down.
From the email:
The upgraded smart contract is not a different contract, but just a new version. This post is intended to serve as a reminder and reaffirmation of Ren Project’s smart contract upgrade on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 for all community members, users and ecosystem participants. Current REN holders will need to manually update their REN tokens via a so called proxy contract, whose main purpose is to ensure a safe and seamless upgrade without breaking any dependencies.
Although no immediate action needs to be taken, however, REN holders who update early will be eligible for the new liquidity rewards program, starting on January 20th and lasting one week.
To provide enough time for holders to receive the upgrade information, we decided that the deadline should be 12:00, 19th, January 2021 (UTC+8). After the deadline, for those old REN token failed to update, you could send an email to [[email protected]
). REN Team will verify the condition of your old REN and conduct the swap process once a month. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please get in touch at [[email protected]
) or by replying to this email.
