How to tell if wallet.dat is corrupt/damaged?

I have been told by several people now that a wallet.dat file can be corrupted or damaged in certain situations, such as staking multiple instances of the same wallet/address at the same time. I have yet to get a clear answer on how to tell if your wallet.dat file is already damaged and what are the consequences associated with the damage? Also, if someone has already staked using multiple instances of the same wallet/address, should they move all their coins to a fresh wallet to prevent any loss associated with said damage/corruption? It's quite worrying that this is not more well known to the neblio community, nor are there adequate resources to educate users about this seemingly devastating possibility. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
