[XMR Contributor Request] Adding Monero as a payment to the AMPtoken / Flexa payments network
Apologies if altcoin discussion is off-topic; I'd like to see Monero added as a payment method to the AMP / Flexa network.
I was recently made aware of the AMP / Flexa project after seeing the yesterday's news that Sheetz gas stations (big franchise in the northeast US) will be accepting crypto payments via the Flexa network. I checked the AMP project out and they already have a staggering number of major retailers signed up for processing instant USD payments in crypto, agnostic of blocktimes / confirmations / price fluctuations.
Their supported cryptos lists are here: https://flexa.network/currencies
I have read their whitepaper and their methodologies claim to support any digital asset, existing or future. Monero fits the criteria and should be possible.
I recognize Monero would not be a "perfect fit" here because it loses privacy, but all adoption is better IMO.
This would provide a way to spend Monero at any of Flexa's supported retailers in the SPEDN app or Gemini Pay app, major retailers have already signed up which include: Sheetz, Baskin Robbins, Bed Bath & Beyond, buybuy BABY, Express, Famous Footwear, Hot Topic, Lowe's Nordstrom, Office Depot & OfficeMax, Petco, Regal Cinemas, and Ulta Beauty. AMP claims their terminals are currently in 40,000+ locations worldwide, and a recent testnet integration with NCP (a major POS terminal provider) could bring it to WalMart and millions of other locations as well.
I'll just be bummed to see crypto payments get accepted everywhere, but to see Monero miss the wallet list. Can a Monero developer reach out and work with them to get it added?
