Lightning and privacy

Hi fellow monerods. While in r/bitcoin I asked about scalability and privacy relating to the lightning network. One of the prominent devs replied and attempted to allay my concerns about privacy by saying that lightning fixes that issue by not publishing the actual recipient's address on the blockchain during settlement. Does this really fix privacy? If not why not? If it does what is monero's place, if it has one, in the cryptosphere?Excluding ip tracking and whatnot which could be problems with any coin at the current moment. (Pre-kovri)
