Increasing block chain verification speed

From my understanding, many coins that have crazy fast block chain verification speeds come at the cost of the security of the ledger, or they assume crazy unrealistic variables. From what I can tell, solana has a secure block chain, reasonable variables, but a crazy high throughput. Would it be possible for monero to take any of the things that make solana so fast and add it to the way the coin is structured?

I would like to see the speed of monero increased because only privacy coins will likely survive in the long term and speed is important to the usability of the currency, especially for in person purchases.
