Why not peg to CPI?

I have seen discussion of pegging DAI to something other than the dollar due to concerns about inflation. Why not just peg it to a consumer price index oracle instead of a currency? That seems like the ultimate hedge against inflation to me, while also being very stable, and independent of any currency.
