How does IOTA's DID solution compare to ION?

So Bitcoin is not outdated as many of you might think. "no special tokens, trusted validators, or additional consensus mechanisms" "to the tune of thousands of operations per second" https://github.com/decentralized-identity/ion So what are the reasons to use IOTA's DID solution instead? :)
