Should the industry prepare to lobby independently from Bitcoin?

In the scenario that Ethereum flips Bitcoin, it's fairly realistic to assume that the Bitcoin community will rally against the entire industry. They would probably go as far as sending lobbyists to Washington, in attempts to outlaw/over-regulate everything but Bitcoin. They would rather destroy the entire industry, than see it flourish with other blockchains (since it doesn't enrich them). Considering that this could easily become a reality, should the industry go on a "counter-attack" and lobby for itself, while leaving Bitcoin out of it? It's unfortunate that this is something we even need to think about. But Bitcoin maxis are absolutely a threat that the whole industry needs to take into account.
