Hey guys. Lots of projects use 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD to send tokens that need to be burned.

This happens when the token sc doesn’t have a burn function and almost every api deducts the token in the dead address so that they don’t count as total supply.

This works as long as no one is aver able to access that address.

Recently, scammers have found a way to nearly duplicate addresses. More info here.

I’m not sure how they generate these addresses. But could they use that method to generate, and access, the dead address? Even if it’s a 1 in a 400 trillion * trillion chance at the moment. I’m sure they can speed up this process in the coming years.

That could potentially mean the downfall of lots of projects. Or is this address hardlocked for all miners to process any transfer?

Don’t want fud. Just curious how it works and if this a potential danger.
