Development Question: Maximum Solidity Version

What is the maximum version of Solidity that will work with ETC? I have found articles that are a couple years old that state that the Solidity version must be under 0.4.2. Is this still accurate? I am new to learning about the blockchain and how to develop on it. I appreciate your help.
