EOS frozen on Exodus

So I was about to send some EOS from Exodus to Binance, but when I clicked 'send' it popped up an error message saying that my EOS balance is frozen on the ETH blockchain. I registered my account prior to mainnet launch using the Exodus registration method and I double and triple checked it. Am I simply confused in thinking that I should be able to send the EOS mainnet coins via exodus? I have an EOS public address and private key stashed away....do I need to engage with the assets directly through the chain rather than through Exodus? Edit: Also, I should add that on Exodus it shows that I have 33 EOS but when I look up my EOS address on EOSPARK it shows that I have 23 staked eos and 10 unstaked eos. What are staked vs unstaked? I assume thats registered and unregistered?
