A Dogecoin Story
A Dogecoin Story
Back in June, 2020 I was drinking and hanging out with friends at one of their houses. We started talking about stocks and one introduced me to Dogecoin. In a drunken decision I bought some and would then on be familiar with the community of it.
Cant really say this is a “rags to riches” story though. The friend that showed me Dogecoin I watched deteriorate extremely fast to drugs. Not sure if he got something laced with fentanyl or just started abusing hard core drugs, but within a matter of months his mind deteriorated and just kept getting worse. Friends and family tried very hard to help but his habits/mind only became worse. As of now he’s likely still homeless. I refused to take him in due to safety reasons and putting my wife and newborn son first.
I’m still holding a small profit. Nothing compared to other posts here but If it does hit 1$ someday I was thinking of either donating some to charity for drug rehabilitation or if I continue my studies through masters/doctorate see if I can implement/fund a more effective approach at targeting addiction.
As much as I’d like to help that old friend of mine there’s only so much someone can do when the individual doesn’t want to help themselves (he had been taken to many rehab facilities, walked out of all of them right before admission). Unfortunately incarceration may be the only time of him ever getting clean, and even then may not work.
Thank you for those who took the time to read this. The main message of Dogecoin had always been to do good in the world, be supportive and to teach others of the value of crypto. May we continue to ignore cynical negativity and push towards a better future, whether that’s with or without Dogecoin. I wish you all well.
