LeonicornSwap is excited to announce that we are integrating Chainlink VRF to access a verifiably tamper-proof source of randomness within our lucky draw games and surprise NFT loot boxes. The end result is a more transparent and provably fair way to select winners and distribute random rewards via on-chain games, all in a manner that is publicly auditable.
We chose Chainlink because it’s the most time-tested oracle infrastructure in production and proven to help secure tens of billions of dollars in on-chain value. Chainlink is also blockchain-agnostic and integrated natively across numerous blockchains — a feature important to the expansion of our AMM platform across Avalanche, Solana, and more in the future.
Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Leonicorn smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This helps provide our users with automated and verifiable proof directly on-chain that Leonicorn Swap lucky draws and surprise NFT box openings are provably fair and were not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the team.
We are also looking at integrating Chainlink Price Feeds for our initial farm offerings (IFOs) in order to accurately and reliably calculate the values of tokens for our users. As we move forward and continue to build out functionality on the Leonicorn Swap platform, we anticipate further integrations with Chainlink’s suite of decentralized services.
