How can I know my pool missed a block?

I can see expected block count on adapools, which is a float number. This is one of the things I dont get. Slot leaders are selected before epoch starts, so why dont pool sites show the exact number of blocks that a pool is supposed to mint? And how can I know my pool is missing blocks due to e.g. downtime? The block Im delegating to is supposed to mint 3 blocks this epoch according to adapools. so far its been 0. So how do I know this is juat due to probability of being selected as a slot leader and not cos my pool is down?
