Delegation / Staking / Rewards - why should I do it?

Holding my ADA in the Daedalus wallet currently and interested by the Delegate / Staking tabs. Why should I do it? What are the risks, if any? Any help much appreciated, or if anyone could point me towards old posts or articles that explain it that would be great! ​ Thanks a lot :)
