Joining the Lightning Network

So, I've got a wallet that was created before the Lightning network existed. Now the wallet lives offline, with its meager holdings. Suppose that in the name of speed I wanted to get Lightning set up. How do you think a fella might go about that? Or is that an Ethereum thing?
