Is buying bitcoin in todays society really worth it?

Since we’re not an early adopter getting btc at less than $100 or even $1000 a coin…will we ever be able to make significant money from buying in at todays market? I mean realistically what…double your money? Buy at 40k and make double when it hits 80k….even if it hit 200k…that’s awesome but we’ll never see another 100x…right?
