Found old wallet, a few questions about legacy wallets and forks

I thought I had lost a little bitcoin awhile ago, and found my passphrase. I've got two main questions: 1) The BTC funds were sitting in the wallet in July 2017, so pre-BCH fork. Am I still able to get those? Is it worth the hassle? 2) I noticed my wallet starts with a 1, which I believe makes it a legacy wallet. Knowing if I purse number 1 above I need to create a new wallet, is there any downside to upgrading my wallet from a legacy one? Thanks for any insight!
